Report
* We have received reports that the bulk carrier VIENNA (IMO: 9222625) was involved in a crane collapse and subsequent fire during heavy-lift cargo operations at Mumbai Port, India, on 30 August 2026.
* Reports indicate that cargo weighing approximately 140 metric tonnes was being discharged using two shore-based mobile cranes when a sling failure or imbalance reportedly caused the load to shift, resulting in the telescopic boom of one crane striking the vessel and causing a subsequent fire on the dock.
* The fire was extinguished by the Fire Department. Two crane operators were reportedly injured and taken to hospital.
* The extent of any physical loss of or damage to the vessel and cargo has not yet been established, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing.
* As a consequence of this incident, cargo losses and recovery issues may arise. We therefore recommend that any cargo interests concerned with cargo carried on board this vessel and/or cargo potentially affected by this incident contact us immediately, so that appropriate steps may be taken to protect recovery rights and assist with any subsequent claims.
